Cavity-induced charge transfer in periodic systems: Length-gauge formalism

نویسندگان

چکیده

We develop a length-gauge formalism for treating one-dimensional periodic lattice systems in the presence of photon cavity inducing light-matter interaction. The purpose is to remove mathematical ambiguities that occur when defining position operator context Power-Zienau-Woolley Hamiltonian. then use diagrammatic approach analyze perturbatively interaction between an electronic quantum system and photonic mode long wavelength. illustrate versatility by studying cavity-induced electric charge imbalance polarization Rice-Mele model with broken inversion symmetry.

Back-electron transfer suppresses the periodic length dependence of DNA-mediated charge transport across adenine tracts.

DNA-mediated charge transport (CT) is exquisitely sensitive to the integrity of the bridging pi-stack and is characterized by a shallow distance dependence. These properties are obscured by poor coupling between the donor/acceptor pair and the DNA bridge, or by convolution with other processes. Previously, we found a surprising periodic length dependence for the rate of DNA-mediated CT across a...

Geometrical formalism in gauge theories

We review the basic elements of the geometrical formalism for description of gauge fields and the theory of invariant connections, and their applications to the coset space dimensional reduction of Yang-Mills theories. We also discuss the problem of classification of principal fibre bundles, which is important for the quantization of gauge theories. Some results for bundles over two-dimensional...

Charge migration and charge transfer in molecular systems

The transfer of charge at the molecular level plays a fundamental role in many areas of chemistry, physics, biology and materials science. Today, more than 60 years after the seminal work of R. A. Marcus, charge transfer is still a very active field of research. An important recent impetus comes from the ability to resolve ever faster temporal events, down to the attosecond time scale. Such a h...

Gauge fixing and BRST formalism in non-Abelian gauge theories

In this Thesis we present a comprehensive study of perturbative and non-perturbative non-Abelian gauge theories in the light of gauge-fixing procedures, focusing our attention on the BRST formalism in Yang-Mills theory. We propose first a model to re-write the Faddeev-Popov quantisation method in terms of grouptheoretical techniques and then we give a possible way to solve the no-go theorem of ...

Second order formalism in Poincaré gauge theory

Changing the set of independent variables of Poincaré gauge theory and considering, in a manner similar to the second order formalism of general relativity, the Riemannian part of the Lorentz connection as function of the tetrad field, we construct theories that do not contain second or higher order derivatives in the field variables, possess a full general relativity limit in the absence of sp...
